Improving Vision in Flat light conditions
Flat light conditions occur when light appears to come from all directions and results in the elimination of shadows and contrast. This can be incredibly dangerous for downhill skiers or the difference between winning and losing for professional athletes.
In collaboration with Shred Optics, my team and I combined user testing and image analysis to test goggles in flat light conditions. To understand how we could improve vision in these conditions we had users view simulated flat light conditions through a variety of goggles. Based on their preferences and image analysis, we identified common light transmission characteristics that most improved vision.
