Real-time surgical tool sanitation for use in Operating rooms

Our team created a system to sanitize surgical tools in real time during surgery. This approach is an effective guard against contamination between autoclave sanitation, which is prohibitively time intensive for use during surgery. By employing this method, surgical site infections (SSI) can be reduced, which account for 20% of infections due to hospital stays and have an estimated annual cost of $3.5 - 10 billion.
